Roses are a symbol of beauty and love. The fragrance of roses gives a calming and sensual feeling, but roses aren’t purely pretty, the petals, oil, and water extracted from roses have numerous benefits.

Following are the 10 health benefits of roses-

1.Weight loss-

It improves metabolism and helps in clearing toxins from the body thereby aiding in weight loss.

2.Skin problems-

Rosewater helps treat skin irritation on sensitive skin, balances out oily skin, softens and tones the skin. Along with being a good choice as an astringent, it serves as a great deep cleanser and toner and thus, makes you look younger, naturally. As rose petals contain antioxidants and antibacterial compounds, they soothe the skin, providing relief from excessive irritation and itching.

Remedy:

A splash of rose water (especially after your routine skin care regime) gives a glowing effect and helps nourish the skin. However, do this regularly to see any results.

Treat acne-

If you are suffering from acne and are looking out for some natural aids to deal with it, then rosewater might help you out. Apart from being a good moisturizer, rose petals contain antibacterial properties helps to dry the acne. Also, the presence of phenyl ethanol, an antiseptic compound, makes rosewater effective against acne.

  • Remedy to treat acne-Soak few seeds of fenugreek in the water at night and make a fine paste by adding rose water. Apply this on your face, leave for 20 minutes and rinse with cold rose water.
  • Remedy for Oily Skin-Mix ½ cup of rose petals with a handful of mint and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. This bath helps remove excess oil and prevent blemishes. (If you find lemon juice irritating, as some people do, you can substitute it with white vinegar).
  • Remedy to Hydrate Skin-
  1. Rose Petal & Yogurt Mask: Mix the rose petals with besan, also known as gram flour or chickpea flour, yogurt, and rose water to make a thick paste. Like all other masks, apply to the face. Then, let dry and rinse with milk, following the milk with cold water.
  2. Honey Rose Mask: Soak 6-8 rose petals for an hour, then crush the rose petals in a bowl or mortar. Mix 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt and 1 teaspoon of raw honey with the rose petals, and then apply them to your face. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse. If you have oily skin, you can add a little bit of lemon juice to the mix.
