About Cinkona-
The bark was dried into what were called quills and then powdered for medicinal uses. The bark contains alkaloids, including quinine and quinidine. Cinchona is the only economically practical source of quinine.
Some people use cinchona for mild influenza, swine flu, the common cold, malaria, and fever. Other uses are for cancer, mouth and throat diseases, enlarged spleen, and muscle cramps.
In foods, cinchona is used as a bitter flavoring in tonic water and alcoholic beverages.
सिंचोना छाल के बारे में-
छाल को क्विल्स कहा जाता है और फिर औषधीय उपयोग के लिए पाउडर बनाया जाता है। छाल में क्विनाइन और क्विनिडाइन सहित अल्कलॉइड होते हैं।
सिनकोना कुनैन का एकमात्र आर्थिक रूप से व्यावहारिक स्रोत है।
